Marine Layer, Marine Layer Vineyard Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2022

The six acre estate "Marine Layer" vineyard was planted to the top clones of Pinot Noir back in 2016. It is located in the Sebastopol hills, and enjoys the influence of fog and the Pacific Ocean a few miles to the west . . . hence the name! Hand-harvested at night, the fruit was partially de-stemmed (35% whole cluster) and macerated for 18 days while undergoing a native yeast fermentation. Aged for 11 months in French oak barrels (30% new) and bottled unfined and very lightly filtered. You can enjoy now with a good decant and expect rich notes of black raspberry, red currant, mountain herbs and a hint of forest floor. Age will add more complexity and savory notes, so ideally you can hold some asided for another 10 plus years.
