Luberri, Seis Rioja 2022

Florentino Martínez Monje is making some of the most exciting wines in Rioja Alavesa, and his 'Seis' bottling is a perfect introduction to his style. Working with primarily Tempranillo from vineyards in Elciego, this wine sees just six months in oak (hence the name) - just enough to add complexity without masking the vibrant fruit. It's a modern take on classic Rioja, balancing bright red fruits with subtle spice and that lovely chalky texture that makes Alavesa wines so distinctive. It's the kind of wine that reminds us why we fell in love with Rioja in the first place.
