The 2023 Gruner Vetliner 'Kreutles' Federspiel is yet another iconic wine to be produced by Emmerich. The wine is extremely focused, elegant, and poised. It's hard not to think of how expressive the mineral elements are in the wine, but the moment you find yourself lost in a deluge of rocky, petrichor, and other soil based descriptors the freshness of the fruit and florals kicks in. Thus begins a crescendo of beautifully interwoven layers of grapefruit, key lime, acacia, honeysuckle, hints of wild fennel, fresh cracked white pepper, and tarragon. The palate does not disappoint in confirming the splendor of the nose! The acid drives this classy Gruner from the slightly phenolic start, to a rich and full mid palate, and finally to a long and delightful finish.
