Domaine de Champarlan, Menetou-Salon 2020

Domaine de Champarlan, Menetou-Salon 2020

Country: France

Region: Loire Valley

Appellation: Menetou-Salon

ABV: 13.0 %

David Girard started the Domaine in 2003 when he was only 20 years old, along with his brother, Luc, who joined him in 2011. The domain is located in Humbligny, midway between Sancerre and Menetou-Salon.

Located directly southwest of Sancerre, this relatively small appellation produces a similar range of white, red and rosé wines as its more famous neighbor Sancerre. The vineyards here are around 7 years old with a southern exposure. They are planted in clay and sedimentary limestone soil dating back to the jurrasic periods (Kimmeridgian).

This zippy Sauvignon Blanc is better than most Sancerres in our opinion with great lime-y mineral freshness and lemon/grapefruit nose.  If you like Sancerre but don't want to pay $30+, look no further...
