Cantine Garrone, Prunent Valle Ossolane DOC 2018

Prunent is the original wine of the Ossola valley, first documented in 1309. It is a clone of Nebbiolo, well suited for mountain vineyards. Ruby colored with hints of garnet, aromas of flowers & vanilla with good structure and fine savory tannins. The Prunent spends 12 months in small oak barrels half new and half used. It undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel before resting for at least one year in bottle. 4000 bottles were produced. Val d'Ossola is Piemonte Region's northern most valley carved from the Alps by the Toce River. The Toce and its tributaries create five valleys which empty into Lake Maggiore. The ideal mountainside growing conditions produce grapes of excellent maturation and beguiling aromas. All due to the dedicated work of a handful of farmers in this intense and beautiful alpine region.
